Bespoke Components from Tough Alloys to Exact Blueprint Geometry

Precision machined components sit at the intersection of material science, CNC programming discipline, and metrology rigour. Metro Precision Engineering Works produces milled, turned, and ground parts from aluminium alloys, stainless steels, tool steels, and specialty alloys specified on aerospace and defense drawings — holding positional tolerances and surface finishes that satisfy critical feature callouts.

Our production cell operates 3-axis CNC mills with 1000×500×500mm envelope, DRO-equipped conventional mills for expedited simple geometry, heavy lathes for rotational components, and surface grinders for flatness-critical faces. We manage both one-off prototype quantities and recurring serial batches with consistent setup documentation to preserve continuity between lots.

Process Control

Each job travels with a router that links drawing revision, material heat lot, program version, tooling list, and inspection checkpoints. Tool wear offsets are managed through periodic feature checks on micrometers, height gauges, and bore comparators. When client specifications demand, we coordinate outsourced 4/5-axis work, cylindrical grinding, heat treatment, and CMM reports through audited partner suppliers — maintaining single-window accountability.

Complex components requiring multiple setups are sequenced to minimize datum transfers that accumulate error. Soft jaws, vacuum fixtures, and custom pot chucks are fabricated in-house when standard workholding cannot access critical features without collision or deflection.

Surface Integrity & Finishing

Surface roughness targets on sealing faces, bearing fits, and aerodynamic profiles are achieved through appropriate feed rates, tool geometry, and finishing passes. Deburring processes protect operators and downstream assemblies — radiused edges, chamfer consistency, and absence of recast layers on holes subject to fatigue loading receive explicit attention on defense-related parts.

Part marking via low-stress engraving or laser marking identifies traceability without compromising structural sections. Protective packaging prevents handling damage during transit to client sites or tier-1 integrators.

Industries Served

Machined outputs feed engine tooling programs, structural assembly aids, ground support interfaces, hydraulic manifold prototypes, and replacement wear components for production lines. Our engineers flag manufacturability concerns early — unreachable radii, overly tight positional tolerances relative to datum scheme, or material alternatives that reduce lead time without sacrificing specification compliance.

  • 3-axis CNC milling and conventional machining
  • Turning, grinding, and multi-operation parts
  • Prototype through serial production quantities
  • Full material traceability and inspection documentation

Upload drawings via our RFQ portal for manufacturability feedback within standard estimation timelines. Metro Precision supports concurrent engineering during prototype ramps when drawing maturity evolves weekly — a common reality on defense and space programs.
